The SDA system has the capacity to generate subsets of the Surveys of Consumers definded by any selected data variable including date of interview and demographic characteristics. The SDA system will automatically generate the necessary format statements for SAS, SPSS, STATA, as well as produce data files in a user defined delimited format for Excel and a wide range of other programs. Codebook records that match the requested subset are automatically produced.

The SDA system also has the capacity to produce tables, cross-tabs, means, correlations, and regression output. Care should be taken to carefully define the analysis parameters, including the time period. All analyses should be weighted to be representative of U.S. households. When using weighted data, the significance of all statistical tests need careful interpretation.

Note (October 27, 2023): There was a minor technical error in the generation of the weights for interviews between November 2022 and September 2023. The corrected weights are now available for download from the Surveys of Consumers SDA Archive. Please see the Surveys of Consumers data website for more details.

Funding was provided by the Federal Reserve Board and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The SDA programs were developed and are maintained by the Computer-assisted Survey Methods Program (CSM) at the University of California, Berkeley (see the SDA Web site).
